THE MARINA
Lavrion Port is situated 28 Km South of the Athens International airport "El. Venizelos" in Spata area. Being less than 25 minutes drive away from the airport and only 2.5 hours sailing from Kea Island in the Cyclades, Lavrion attracts more and more sailors with destination Cyclades.

HOW TO REACH OUR LAVRIO BASE
Upon your arrival in Athens, to the Athens international airport "EL. VENIZELOS" in Spata area you are just 28km from Lavrion charter base / port. There are two ways to get to Lavrion. One option is to take the train from the airport (it's called "Proastiakos") and get off at the first stop called "Koropi". From there, you can get the intercity bus (KTEL) which runs every 30 minutes to Lavrion and takes about 40 minutes to get to the port. The other way and certainly the best way to reach Lavrion is to seize a taxi from the airport (plenty of taxis waiting just outside) and be in Lavrion in only 15-20 minutes (depending on the traffic) and pay 20 - 25 Euro! A pre-arranged transfer with mini-bus can also be provided by VOGUE SAILS at an extra cost of 120 euro.

MEETING POINT/OFFICE
The meeting point is directly onto your yacht. At the end of the port (South).

MOORINGS
When returning, go stern-to or bows-to. Mooring lines are available on the North side of the quay, though you should drop your anchor to moor to the South side of the wide dock. Clients should call the Vogue Sails staff at least 2 hours before their entrance in Lavrion Marina.

FACILITIES
Water and 220V power is available on the quay. Neither showers nor toilets (public WC) are available in Lavrion. The taverns/restaurants are a solution for some people. Fuel is delivered on the quay by a car-tanker. A 24-hour taxi stand is also found at the central square of Lavrion. Though it is better to ask our base manager to call one for you. ATM cash point and many Banks are located in town, which is about 10 minutes walk from the boats. Parking area (unguarded, quite safe) is also located into the marina. Best option is to park the car into the port-police courtyard.

PROVISIONING
There are a few supermarkets in Lavrion town. One of them picks up people from the yacht to the store and delivers all provisions to the quay. The store has an extended variety of food and beverages and reasonable prices too. You can also send us a provisioning list 2 weeks before you arrive and have everything brought directly to your boat.
Tip: Don't forget to get ice, so that you save your yachts power at night!

RESTAURANTS
Many quality taverns, restaurants, cafes and bars are located within walking distance of the marina. The one outside the fence is not the best one. Take the road outside the yachts keeping the seaside to your left hand and after 100m distance you will spot the tables at the pavement opposite the marble monument belonging to the tavern (fresh fish is guaranteed, though it is not very cheap). Another good option is to take a taxi and drive up the hills to "Sfyrlas" tavern in Aghios Konstantinos village, only 4 Km away from Lavrion. This is a place for Greek people with tasty, traditional cuisine and distinguished barbeque dishes.

SIGHTSEEING
Although the SouthEastern side of Attica/Athens area is full of antiquities, there are not many "organized" sights for tourists in Lavrion. Just 5 kilometres South of Lavrion you will locate ten ancient ruins of the Temple of Poseidon right at the edge of Cape Sounion - Do not miss the view.

THE WEATHER
Most of the time, the prevailing wind is N - NW, 3 to 4 Beaufort.
TIP - Lavrion is closer to the Cyclades islands, BUT in case there are strong winds in the Aegean, most charter boats are forced to stay in port. So when you select Lavrion as the departure point you should be prepared for such a possibility, otherwise charter a yacht out of Alimos Marina where waters are more calm no matter the weather conditions in the Aegean you will be able to sail to the Saronic Gulf (Aegina, Poros islands). This is a small secret that many people ignore when choosing the charter base in Athens.

HAZARDS
As you approach the harbour there is no hazard, there is sufficient depth of water. Please note that in the area there is sometimes in high traffic. Sailing North or South of Makronissos islet, always keep the same distance from the land. On your way to Kea island, keep at least 1.5 mile away from the South cape of Makronissos (non-inhabited) island.
